Sitestinger (“Sitestinger,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit sitestinger.com (the “Site”), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We’ve tried to write it like a human, not a lawyer.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you give us
When you submit the contact form on our Site, we collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your project brief (whatever you write in the message field)
We use this information solely to reply to your inquiry, prepare a free audit, and discuss potential engagement. We do not sell it. We do not rent it. We do not use it for unrelated marketing without your consent.
1.2 Information collected automatically
Like nearly every modern website, we collect a small amount of technical information automatically so the Site works correctly and we can improve it. This includes:
- Approximate location (derived from IP address — usually city or region level)
- Browser type, device type, operating system, and screen size
- Pages visited, time spent, and how you arrived at the Site (referrer)
- Anonymous interaction events (clicks, scrolls, form interactions)
1.3 Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of first- and third-party cookies and local storage entries to remember session state and measure aggregate usage. Most modern browsers let you block or delete cookies at any time. Doing so will not break the Site — only the analytics measurement will stop.
2. How we use your information
- To respond to your contact-form inquiry and provide a free audit
- To send you a written follow-up from gbs@sitestinger.com
- To keep the Site secure, monitor performance, and prevent abuse (including a hidden anti-bot “honeypot” field on the contact form)
- To understand which pages and content are useful so we can improve them
- To comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
3. Who we share information with
We only share information with the small number of vetted service providers we need to operate the Site. They process data only on our instructions.
- Resend — delivers the email we receive from your contact submission to gbs@sitestinger.com.
- MongoDB — stores a record of your submission (name, email, message, timestamp) so we have an audit trail and can follow up reliably.
- PostHog — product analytics; helps us understand which sections of the Site are useful. PostHog data is pseudonymous; we do not link analytics events to your real name unless you actively identify yourself by submitting the contact form.
- Google Fonts — loads the fonts used by the Site. Google may log basic request data (IP, user-agent) for delivery.
We will also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Sitestinger, our clients, or the public.
4. International data transfers
We serve clients worldwide. Our service providers may process data in the United States, the European Union, or other regions. Where required by law, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
5. How long we keep your data
- Contact-form submissions: kept for as long as we maintain an active or potential business relationship with you, plus a reasonable archival period for tax, accounting, and dispute purposes (typically up to 7 years).
- Analytics data: retained by PostHog according to our configured retention window, after which it is deleted automatically.
You can ask us to delete your data sooner — see Section 7.
6. How we protect your data
The Site is served over HTTPS. Contact-form submissions are transmitted over TLS and stored in an access-controlled database. We restrict access to your information to people who need it to do their job, and we keep our software dependencies up to date. No system is 100% secure, but we treat your data the way we’d want our own treated.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information (“right to be forgotten”)
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Request a portable copy of your information
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing relies on consent
- Opt out of analytics by enabling “Do Not Track” or blocking cookies in your browser
To exercise any of these rights, email gbs@sitestinger.com. We respond within 30 days, usually much sooner. If you are in the EU/UK or California, your rights under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA apply in full.
8. Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for business owners and brand decision-makers and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Bilingual service note
Sitestinger offers fully bilingual service in English and Spanish. This Privacy Policy is published in English; a Spanish version is available on request by emailing gbs@sitestinger.com.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. When we do, we’ll update the “Effective” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage or by email for active clients.
